Eminem and Dr. Dre lead this year's Grammy nominees

The Grammy Awards may be tradition bound, but the Recording Academy isn’t afraid to ignite a little controversy either. Dr. Dre and Eminem garnered five and four Grammy nominations, respectively — more than any other rap artist. The legally challenged Slim Shady received nods for album of the year, rap album, and rap solo performance for the ”Marshall Mathers LP.” His work with Dr. Dre on ”Dr. Dre 2001” was also nominated for best rap performance by a duo. Destiny’s Child’s Beyonce Knowles also picked up five nods from the association of 10,000 music professionals.

The 43rd annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on CBS on Feb. 21. Here’s a list of the nomination highlights.
