Where the Money Is

It’s remarkable how often Hollywood resorts to that old gambit of keeping its silver foxes still somewhat dangerous by casting them as criminals (see To Catch a Thief, Going in Style, Entrapment). So it goes for Paul Newman in the tepid dark comedy Where the Money Is. After uncovering the stroke-victim scam that gets him sprung from the slammer, hot young thing Fiorentino proceeds to talk him into an armored-car job. Alas, despite their game performances, they can’t keep us from feeling a bit robbed. C+
