Jerry Seinfeld and his wife have a baby girl

BIRTH Hey, at least Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld‘s new baby girl will have a birthday that everyone remembers. On the same day Americans voted in what’s turned out to be the weirdest election in recent memory, the couple’s first child was born in an undisclosed hospital in New York City. The 46 year old comic and his 29 year old former PR consultant wife named the new baby Sascha. Seinfeld’s friends will no doubt soon be invited to see the BAYbee. (We hear she’s breathtaking.)

SPLIT Former En Vogue singer Dawn Robinson has left R&B supergroup Lucy Pearl, the band she formed with ex Tony Toni Toné member Raphael Saadiq and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (formerly of A Tribe Called Quest). The band’s publicist says she’s not surprised: ”[Robinson] left En Vogue; she worked with Dr. Dre and left him,” the publicist told SonicNet. ”There came a point where the band began to wonder if she was going to leave Lucy Pearl…. There’s a pattern there.” None of the parties seem to have let the departure cramp their style: Robinson has reportedly accepted a solo deal with Q Records and Lucy Pearl have already recruited Dallas Austin‘s Joi to replace Robinson as lead singer.

TV NEWS An issue heavy episode of ”Frasier” titled ”Dr. Nora” has gone missing in syndication. Even though the show — a parody, of course, of Dr. Laura Schlessinger — was nominated for an Emmy award, it has failed to turn up in reruns. ”Frasier” execs have told Variety that its absence is suspicious. Since Paramount produces both the comedy and Dr. Laura’s new talk show, the theory stands that execs took it out of rotation at the request of a miffed Schlessinger. ”You’d think the studio wouldn’t punish the show that wins Emmys to appease the one that wins enemies,” the episode’s scribe Joe Keenan said. A Paramount spokesperson says they received no request to remove ”Nora”…. Meanwhile, Schlessinger really has something to be ticked off about. Her ratings troubled television show has been bumped to the late, late shift on several CBS owned stations — a sign that the program may soon be canceled. ”We continue to believe in the viability of the ‘Dr. Laura’ TV show, and we will continue to produce it for those stations and the 187 other stations that are part of the ‘Dr. Laura’ station lineup,” Paramount said in a statement. This means they love her, but only when everyone is asleep.

MARRIAGE WOES Harrison Ford and his wife of 17 years, screenwriter Melissa Mathison, are living apart according to a statement released yesterday by Ford’s agent. ”We have been living apart for the past month. We sincerely hope that we can work out our differences,” the couple said.

AWARDS Canadian author Margaret Atwood may not have won the Nobel, but at least she’s got a Booker Prize to boast about. The celebrated novelist and poet took home Britain’s top literary prize Tuesday for her book ”The Blind Assassin.” This was the fourth time she was nominated for the award.
