Video Review: 'Waking the Dead'

In 1982, a congressional candidate (Crudup) is haunted by visions of an allegedly deceased hippie chick (Connelly) who raised his consciousness — among other things — during the Nixon Era. Director Keith Gordon (A Midnight Clear) achieves an often-impressive intimacy with his actors, but the visually enticing parable Waking the Dead is ultimately as evanescent as Connelly’s Kentucky accent.
