Eminem is arraigned on Insane Clown Posse-related charges

EM DIN It looks like Eminem won’t be facing the courts until the end of his Up in Smoke tour. The rapper was arraigned yesterday on felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from his alleged gun-toting altercation with a member of rival Motor City band Insane Clown Posse. Because of his tour obligations, he was arraigned via mail. No new pretrial date has been set as yet. Oddly enough, the Slim Shady’s Detroit-area neighbors are preventing him from spending life behind bars — in his home, at least. The Detroit News reports that the platinum blond wants to build a 6-foot fence topped with menacing spears and security cameras around his paparazzi-beleaguered home in the ritzy hood of Sterling Heights. But local ordinances prevent residents from constructing front yard barricades — which the well heeled residents find tacky — and officials say the chart topper should receive no special privileges. In recent months, the mailbox at the Mathers home has been torched, No Trespassing signs have gone missing and M&M wrappers have been strewn over his lawn overnight. Maybe Em should sign up for the Neighborhood Watch program.

LIMP TOUR Despite its trouble-free start, the Napster-sponsored Limp Bizkit tour has run into a snag in Los Angeles — the band can’t seem to find a place to perform, reports SonicNet. Critics’ warnings that the free shows are a recipe for disaster may be influencing promoters. Hollywood Palladium prez Alan Shuman says that, while his venue never accepts free shows, it’s also highly unusual for the group to have searched without luck for five months without a place to play. ”You hear all kinds of rumors, but I don’t know why it isn’t booked,” he said, adding that most folks are probably worried about the band’s violent rep. At 1999’s Woodstock, for example, the group’s appearance was linked to the festival’s biggest, baddest mosh pits. Won’t those guys EVER get over Woodstock?

REALITY TV NBC announced that it will definitely be getting a lot more real. ”We weren’t aggressive as we should have been in this area,” admitted the network’s West Coast prez, Scott Sassa, who has reportedly faced sharp criticism for neglecting to jump on the reality TV bandwagon. As reported, the Peacock will add a series about a woman chained to a quartet of potential beaus. But that doesn’t mean they’re giving up on ”quality dramas and sitcoms,” Sassa told the Television Critics Association yesterday. ”It’s a relationship show. It adds a little diversity and spice to your schedule Everything can’t be the ‘West Wing.”’ How about a more edifying show in which four potential candidates are chained to a prospective voter for an hour?… CBS has decided to add yet another night of ”Big Brother” to its roster.

REUNION Whoa, remember ”Walk Like An Egyptian”? The Bangles certainly do, but the members of the ’80s girl group say they hope to resist the ”nostalgia revival thing” as they plan to reunite for their first tour and album in 11 years. The now middle-aged four-woman band is heading to the studio to record with Black Crowes producer George Drakoulias, and beginning Sept. 13 will hit the road for nine club dates in North America. A bigger tour is planned for next summer to coincide with the album’s release. The group says they hope to remind music fans of their punk rock roots. Get ready for a manic Monday in the mosh pit.

LEGALESE The Beach Boy’s Brian Wilson settled a 1999 suit against his former producer Joe Thomas out of court, reports Billboard Bulletin. Last year, Brian’s wife Melinda Wilson sued Thomas on her husband’s behalf, claiming that the producer had used the songwriter to raise his industry profile and wrongfully benefit from it financially. Thomas then countersued, alleging that Melinda ”schemed against and manipulated” her husband and himself. No details were disclosed because of a confidentiality agreement, but both parties say the settlement was amicable.
