Choice reruns: ''Block Party Summer''

A look at Nick at Nite's summer lineup, from ''The Monkees'' to ''I Dream of Jeannie''

Because one good rerun deserves another (and another and another…), Nick at Nite kicks off its fourth annual ”Block Party Summer” on July 7 with mara-thons of classic sitcoms every weeknight from 8:30 to 11 p.m. ”Monkee Mondays” feature episodes of the proto-MTV comedy The Monkees, which follows the madcap antics of Beatle wannabes Davy Jones, Peter Tork, Mike Nesmith, and Micky Dolenz (with campy cameos from the likes of Liberace and Frank Zappa). Tuesdays are taken over by I Love Lucy‘s redheaded housewife (Lucille Ball) and her hotheaded Cubano hubby (Desi Arnaz). ”Bewitched Bewednesdays” spotlight the suburban sorceress (Elizabeth Montgomery) who’s married to a harried adman (Dick York — later magically replaced by Dick Sargent). Thursdays are Happy Days, at least for that I Like Ike-era Wisconsin high schooler (Ron Howard) and his greaser guru (Henry Winkler). And on Friday nights, I Dream of Jeannie follows the 2,000-year-old sprite (Barbara Eden) forever enslaved to an astronaut (Larry Hagman). Now, if that’s not good, clean, American fun, we don’t know what is.
