As much a showcase for saxophonist Dewey Redman and bassist Cameron Brown as for the late, lamented drummer Ed Blackwell, this 1992 live recording displays the extraordinary empathy and intense focus that like-minded improvisers can achieve. The extended track lengths on Wells-Bridges can get wearying, but every Blackwell beat we can get our hands on should be savored.
