Bonded: ”The name is Bono. Just Bono.” Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, but U2’s singer and fellow agent the Edge are adding the title song for the James Bond movie Goldeneye to their burgeoning soundtrack resume. No Fly-style falsettos here, though; Tina Turner has been awarded the license to trill. Also dropping from U2 is the ambient-leaning album Operation Soundtracks 1, recorded with Brian Eno. It will be released Nov. 7 under the band name Passengers (with Luciano Pavarotti on the charity track ”Miss Sarajevo”). Meanwhile, sessions are under way in Dublin for the next proper U2 release — ”a rock & roll album,” promises Bono.

Scarlet-branded: Scratch Sandi Patty’s scheduled Christmas album, O Holy Night!, from your holiday list. The wholesome gospel star put the album on hold — for at least a year, presumably after Patty publicly acknowledged having an affair with backup singer Don Peslis (whom she married Aug. 6), some months before filing for divorce from her first husband in 1992.

Alienated: Producer David Was intends the X-Files soundtrack album he’s compiling to be ”the feel-weird record of the season” (the post-Christmas season, that is; it’s due in early ’96 on Warner). Among those who’ve promised scary tracks: Leonard Cohen, Danzig, R.E.M., Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, Filter, and Moby.
