Parenting is a journey unto itself, but for so many LGBTQ+ families it means making some compromises, sacrifices, and a lot of planning. For non-biological and/or non-gestating parents, there are a series of gender, familial, and societal shifts that are often hard to navigate. We hope that by holding space for a peer-led support group conversation, parents that are non-bio/non-gestating can share their highs, lows, tips, and tools, and other caregivers will have the resources they need to build their family with even greater support. Our group meets every fourth Thursday of the month (May 16th) from 6P-8P via Zoom. #NonGestationalParent #PeerSupportGroup #LGBTQ+ #OurFamilyCoalition #OFC #PoweredByCommunityInspiredByLove #Support #Education #Advocacy #Equity #FamilyJustice #SocialJustice #LGBTQFamilies #Service #Community #Thrive

Breaking taboos and empowering women | Founder, Connector & Innovator | Women's Health | TEDx/Keynote Speaker
I'm coming out of quiet building mode (...more to come soon!..) tonight to speak on a cause that's very close to my heart for #WorkPride2024, myGwork - LGBTQ+ Business Community's virtual 5-day global LGBTQ+ conference. 🌈 We'll go back to questions I've grappled with myself many times: - How can we break through barriers to access, opportunities and funding for underrepresented founders? - How can we (successfully) build for diversity, inclusion and intersectionality in the startup space? For the last 12 years, I've sought to lead and been a part of initiatives, talks and conferences tackling closing the funding and data gaps, addressing implicit bias, improving education and training, boosting networks etc... And yet, it baffles me that the stats are still the same (between 0-2%..!!): - LGBTQ+ founders have raised less than 1 percent of VC funding in the US (2022) - Just 0.48% percent of all the VC funding went to Black founders (2023) - Women-only led companies received just 1.9% of VC funding (2022) But we all know the facts -- diverse teams perform better, generate higher returns and innovation. So, what's the tea? 🍵 Join me, Jaron, Raul, Thea, Stefaan and moderator Eboné F. Bell as we dig into these questions and hopefully offer actionable insights/takeaways that'll help you, whether you're a startup founder, investor, community builder, inclusion activist or simply working in the space. ➝ Tuesday 18th June, @ 20:00 BST via Zoom Sign up for free at https://lnkd.in/deShrKTv #workingwithpride #workpride #LGBTQ #diversityandinclusion #underrepresentedfounders #intersectionality

Care Leaver 🏡 Self Employed | Passionate about helping amazing people find their next role in Residential Children's Homes and Safeguarding YP | Residential Recruitment | ꜱᴇᴇ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴊᴏʙꜱ ᴀʀᴇ ᴀᴠᴀɪʟᴀʙʟᴇ ᴏɴ ᴏᴜʀ ᴡᴇʙꜱɪᴛᴇ!
As hard as this picture is to read, its true ! #Pride 🏳️🌈 is more than a celebration; it's a powerful affirmation of identity and self-worth. For LGBTQ+ individuals, especially children in care, feeling accepted and valued for who they are is crucial. Sadly, many face rejection, discrimination, and misunderstanding, leading to devastating outcomes, including mental health struggles and, tragically, even suicide. For these children in care, the journey can be particularly challenging. They may grapple with their identity while navigating the instability of the care system. The fear of not being accepted by foster families or peers can exacerbate feelings of isolation and anxiety. As professionals in the social care sector, your role is vital. By fostering inclusive environments, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, and providing compassionate support, you can make a profound difference. Ensuring these children feel safe, seen, and supported can change the trajectory of their lives. ⚠️Don’t forget to take your children to events this month to celebrate, give them awareness and education regarding this matter! 🏳️🌈 Let’s commit to creating spaces where every child, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can feel proud and confident in who they are. Together, we can help build a world where no one has to hide or fear being themselves. #Pride #LGBTQ+ #ChildrenInCare #SocialWork #childrenshome #ofsted #childrensservices #InclusionMatters #SupportAndEmpower #MentalHealthAwareness #pridemonth #linkedin #poweroflinkedin

June is pride month, a tradition that began following the Stonewall Riots and is largely considered to be the beginning of the modern LGBTQIA+ rights movement. It is a time to celebrate the progress that has been made, pay homage to queer ancestors, protest LGBTQIA+ discrimination, and raise awareness of issues impacting LGBTQIA+ people. But when you feel unsure as to where you fit into the LGBTQIA+ community, or if you identify with it at all, this time of the year might bring up mixed emotions. 💫There is no rush to label yourself or make a definitive decision about your identity on anyone's timeline but your own.💫 💫There is no right way or age to discover you are queer.💫 💫Gender and sexuality are fluid! They can change over time and that is okay too.💫 Connecting with a supportive queer community, seeking guidance from LGBTQIA+ celebratory therapists and support groups, and taking the time to educate yourself about expansive identities can all be valuable resources as you navigate your journey of self-discovery. Even while you are figuring it all out, you are always welcome at Pride events! #Equality #Pride2024 #lgbtqiaplus #queercommunity #allarewelcome #lgbtq #lgbtqally #allarewelcomehere #queerpride #lgbtplus #lgbtsupporter #youarevalid #loveislove #loveislove #loveislovenomatterwhat #rainbowflag #pridemonth #lgbtequality #happypride #happypride🌈 #lgbtpositivity #happypridemonth #loveforall #pridemonth #lgbtlove #transrights #queerrights #pronounsmatter #embracesexualwellness

For a few reasons, LGBTQ+ youth are at high risk for homelessness. Of the roughly 1.6 million young people who experience homelessness each year, up to 40% identify as LGBTQ+. According to a 2013 Child Trends article, these young people are also more likely to experience homelessness at a younger age than other unsheltered youth. Rejection from family is a common reason. About 50% of teens report getting a negative reaction when they come out, while 1 in 4 get kicked out of their homes. Without safe, stable options, these rejected kids often end up on the streets and vulnerable to violence, criminal activity, and other serious outcomes. #morecommonthanyouthink #endhomelessness #lgbtq+ #lgbtq #youthhomelessness #endthestigma #winterwalk 📃 Source: "10 Facts About Homelessness in the United States" Human Rights Careers
