«(Full disclosure: Conchita is my co-founder at Puentes Global.) Conchita is --- hands down --- one of the most path-breaking young social innovators I know. She has inspired confidence in me and every other person we've worked with during the past three years. She has an (eerie) ability to make people --- from all walks of life --- feel at ease and valuable. Besides her obvious interpersonal skills, Conchita is a first-rate manager; her organizational skills and ability to deliver are admirable. She is a true values-led creative mind. Conchita will never hesitate to break with the status quo, yet at the same time is incredibly tactful at managing the difficult balance between consensus and critical thinking. I feel fortunate to consider her my friend and business partner.»

Promise, Pitfalls, and Potential of Social Entrepreneurship. Positive Change Unleashed.
Routledge
This book dives into the heart of social entrepreneurship as the authors share the latest research, global experiences, the authentic private conversations, and diverse narratives around this widely popular concept.

The idea and practice of social entrepreneurship has swept the world, taken up with enthusiasm by business leaders, nonprofit practitioners, and public policy makers alike. In this book, the authors argue that social entrepreneurship is surrounded by great promise, and that this high expectation has contributed to its pitfalls, setting it out as separate and different from other kinds of nonprofit organising, public service provision, and business for social benefit. After exploring the problem of inflated expectations, the authors rescue the concept from ‘perfection’ – overly positive normative judgements – by presenting practical ways forward.
The book sets out how to really unleash the power of social entrepreneurship so that it can actually deliver on its promise to improve how we organise for social purpose. This potential revolves around four key themes that are levers for social change: innovative individuals, social impact, scaling social enterprises, and the power of ecosystems. Through these themes, the book covers a wide range of approaches to social enterprise illustrated by specific examples and experiences from five continents.
This accessible book is a valuable resource for a variety of practitioners, upper-level students, instructors, and business scholars, particularly those with an interest in social/environmental impact, entrepreneurship, business ethics, sustainable business, ESG and CSR.Otros autoresVer publicación -

Introduction to sustainability, In Transformación hacia la sostenibilidad (pp. 109-130).
Aranzadi
This chapter explores the evolving concept of sustainability, integral to contemporary discourse in professional and private spheres, and emphasizes the interconnectedness of sustainability with economic and social concerns. It critiques the unsustainable linear model of progress, evident in historical milestones like the Industrial Revolution and the information technology era, and their impact on global GDP. Acknowledging the role of civil society as a catalyst for change, the chapter underscores the critical involvement of businesses in sustainability initiatives. Despite challenges, it advocates for collaborative efforts to forge a new path of sustainable development, recognizing the vital role of all stakeholders in meeting present needs without compromising those of future generations.

Co-Creating a Research Agenda for Social Innovation
33rd Annual Meeting. SASE.
The last decade has witnessed an increasing awareness about Sustainability, the role of economic organizations in protecting the planetary boundaries, and the urge to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the 2030 horizon. This awareness has only increased during the Covid-19 crisis, which is still ongoing at the time of this submission (February 2021). In the context of pressing global challenges, unexpected changes and intense social anxiety, Social Innovation is timelier than ever. There is a need for novel ideas, new approaches, and courageous implementations.

La incesante búsqueda de la eficiencia ha agravado la crisis de la COVID-19
The Conversation

Council on Business and Society
Prof. Concepción Galdón, Social Innovation Director at IE University and Joshua Entsminger, Applied Researcher in International Affairs, propose an excellent approach to scaling up innovation in order to enable everyone to benefit equally from them. The specific design of the Open Innovation Program requires a case-by-case approach, given the specificities of national regulations when it comes to procurement and sourcing. However, any design should guarantee that government focuses on what it…

The specific design of the Open Innovation Program requires a case-by-case approach, given the specificities of national regulations when it comes to procurement and sourcing. However, any design should guarantee that government focuses on what it does best, moving from being the elephant in the room, to putting its know-how at the service of scaling up of social innovations. Public service at its best.
