PROMISEANG is a groundbreaking European project committed to developing alternative proteins from microbial fermentations for next-generation food, feed and other bio-based applications. This ambitious initiative brings together academia, industry, food system stakeholders and governmental authorities to address the urgent need for sustainable and nutritious protein sources. Coordinated by the University of Vigo (Spain) and featuring a consortium of 11 partners from five different European countries, PROMISEANG aims to revolutionize protein production through zero-waste procedures, leveraging microbial biomass and innovative fermentation techniques. The project is funded by the Horizon Europe program of the European Union and is set to transform the protein landscape by creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to meet the world's growing protein demand.
