MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko met with Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on the sidelines of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, the press service of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament told BelTA.
Belarus’ and Iran’s approaches to building a new architecture of international relations coincide, Igor Sergeyenko noted. BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization were mentioned as important elements of the new architecture of international relations.
Igor Sergeyenko and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stressed the high level of political relations between Belarus and Iran as well as the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, economy, investment, humanitarian affairs, and other areas.
The high level of interaction between the parliaments was noted. The dialogue between the legislative branches of power fully meets mutual interests of advancing the bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership.
Among promising avenues of parliamentary cooperation Igor Sergeyenko mentioned the sharing of the best legislative practices and assistance with the development of the bilateral legal base.
