YEKATERINBURG, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarus has set out on a course of action to build an innovative economy, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a strategic session of the international industrial expo INNOPROM in Russia’s Yekaterinburg, BelTA has learned.
“Over the past years, INNOPROM has turned into a large-scale showcase event for advanced solutions and technologies. The interest in the expo has been growing year to year. It is not surprising given that in the conditions of global instability and economic wars, more and more countries seeking to ensure technological sovereignty are coming to realize the importance of mutually respectful partnerships. After being subjected to the toughest pressure, Belarus, like Russia, has opted for building an innovative economy. We prioritize complex projects that envisage the creation of production facilities with high economic potential, promotion of new scientific and engineering traditions in the field of high technologies,” said Roman Golovchenko.
In order to achieve effective interaction between science and the real sector of the economy, Belarus approved an innovative development program in 2021. “As a result, the share of innovative products reached 22% in 2023, while new or significantly improved products accounted for 56% of innovative products. Science-intensive and high-tech products accounted for almost 40% of Belarusian exports,” the prime minister noted.
“At the same time, we clearly understand that achieving technological sovereignty on one’s own is an extremely difficult, even impossible task. It can only be done through joint efforts together with our strategic partners and allies by means of using each other’s production, scientific, technical and human potential,” the head of government emphasized.
