Prior to 1809, what then became the autonomous Russian Grand Duchy of Finland had been an integrated part of Sweden (see Finland under Swedish rule) more or less since the dawn of history in Scandinavia, i.e., since Christianization. Therefore, much of Finland's history prior to 1809 is covered in articles in Category:History of Sweden. However, articles about local history in Finland are in Category:Finland under Swedish rule.
