Civil Rights Discrimination

The following resources provide prevention, resolution, and supportive services to address discrimination, harassment, and other campus climate issues.

The Civil Rights team provides many resources to foster and support a campus environment that is inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination and harassment. We are here to inform individuals of the various processes, supports, and options that exist when they encounter conduct by an employee that runs counter to the University’s values, specifically any potentially discriminatory or harassing conduct outlined in the following list. We also help the University meet its Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action obligations under federal and state law and offer training and education to the campus community.

Please contact ECRT for assistance if you or someone you know has been subjected to discrimination or harassing conduct on the basis of:

  • race
  • color
  • national origin
  • age
  • marital status
  • disability
  • religion
  • height
  • weight
  • veteran’s status

Caste-based discrimination and/or harassment violates the University’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunity in educational, occupational, and professional advancement, and is prohibited under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, under U-M SPG 201.35 (Non-Discrimination), and under SPG 201.89-1 (Discrimination and Harassment). Instances of caste-based discrimination may be reported using the Discrimination and  Harassment Reporting Form.

We can identify the appropriate processes and resources to address your concerns. Together, we can create and maintain a respectful and inclusive environment that provides the support and opportunity for each member of our community to thrive.
