Animals

Join the university’s ADA Coordinator to learn about service animals, service animals in training, emotional support animals, and the differences between them. Topics will include service animals in the classroom, workplace, and public spaces. Participants will learn how the accessibility specialists facilitate a positive dialogue with employees and units to navigate reasonable accommodation requests and implementation in the workplace. Interview & Hiring Process
Accommodations

In this workshop, you’ll learn about the varying stages in which an employee can request accommodations, including during the hiring and interview processes. We’ll target the differences in the interactive process if reasonable accommodations are sought before employment, as well as language etiquette, examples of early stage accommodations, and frequently asked questions by applicants and employers. Employee’s Guide to Reasonable Workplace Accommodations

In this lunch and learn, the Disability Equity Office will provide an overview of the interactive process for employees. Topics will include what is an accommodation, how to request reasonable accommodations through the Accommodate database, what documentation is needed, what to expect during the process, and more. Beautiful Minds: Neurodiversity, Equity and Inclusion Conference

The Disability Equity Office’s accessibility specialists presented at the Beautiful Minds Conference 2024 to discuss how we can promote neuro-inclusion and disability-centric workspaces. The conference aims to bring awareness to neurodiversity at our institution and identify resources to support inclusive environments that champion all community members and bring the dialog of neurodiversity, equity, and inclusion to the forefront.

Guide

This practical presentation guides the audience through tips and tools for making PowerPoint accessible, including content such as use of the Accessibility Checker, and appropriate recommendations for color contrast, font style, size, and spacing. We will also have an interactive remediation activity for all attendees to gain hands-on knowledge of accessible presentation creation.
