Two bills led by Johnson passed out of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. The Ocean Shipping Reform Implementation Act would strengthen provisions from Johnson’s Ocean Shipping Reform Act that became law in June 2022. The 91,000-lb. Weight Exemption Pilot Program, a provision in Johnson’s SHIP It Act, would establish a voluntary ten-year pilot program for states to increase truck weights on federal interstates up to 91,000 lbs. on six axles.

U.S. Sens. John Thune (R-S.D.) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) and U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) urged U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland to direct the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) to provide additional support to tribal law enforcement agencies in South Dakota to help combat the spike of violent crime on reservations.

Two Second Amendment bills led by Johnson passed out of the House Judiciary Committee to allow tribal members, RV-ers, and active-duty military families to exercise their Second Amendment rights to obtain a firearm.

Johnson was named the most effective House Republican in the area of Agriculture by the Center for Effective Lawmaking. Johnson received the same rank during the 116th Congress. He was also named the 14th most effective lawmaker out of 222 House Republicans.

Johnson cosponsors two bills, the PASS Act and the FARM Act, that would protect America’s farmland and businesses from the Chinese Communist Party and add the Secretary of Agriculture to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
