The semi-finals of Euro 2024 and Copa America have arrived and will be played on both Tuesday and Wednesday. For Tuesday’s action, first, we have Spain vs. France in the Euros before Argentina faces off against Canada in the first Copa America semi-final. The Canadiens have already made history in this run, reaching the semi-final of a major tournament for the first time in their history. Can they keep it going, or will Argentina stand in their way? On the other side of the world, Spain has looked like the best team in the tournament, but will that be enough against a resilient French side that doesn’t give up many goals?

Spain To Advance (vs. France) (-120)

The Spanish advanced against the Germans as I predicted last week, and I’m going with them again on Tuesday. They’ve been head and shoulders the best team so far at this tournament, and I expect that to continue. Although the French are very hard to break down and score against, I think the Spanish will find a way to get it done. They have already beaten some great teams in this tournament in Croatia, Italy and Germany. Now, their biggest test comes their way in France. The French have not been able to score goals consistently in this tournament. They have had two own goals scored for them, and Mbappe scored a penalty against Poland, but a French player has yet to score from open play in this tournament. That is a wild statistic, and to think they have gotten this far without scoring is amazing. A big reason for that is their defense, which has been rock solid. They have only conceded one goal in their five matches, and that also wasn’t from open play, as it was a penalty from Poland.

I think we are in line for a low-scoring game, but ultimately I think the Spaniards will just have enough. However, they need to be wary of the counterattack. The Spanish will likely have a lot of possession, and they will need to get back quickly to deal with the speedy French counterattack in transitions. I think they’ll be ready for it, and I think they will be playing in the final on Sunday.

Argentina Win to Zero (vs. Canada) (-145)

For this bet to hit, we need Argentina to win the game in 90 minutes and Canada not to score. When these teams matched up for the opening game of the tournament on June 20th, this bet hit with ease as Argentina got the 2-0 win. Canada never looked very threatening to score, only finishing with two shots on target. Argentina arguably could have scored more, as they missed a bunch of chances with their nine shots on target. Regardless, they got the job done and that’s all that matters. As long as Canada doesn’t score, I feel fairly confident that Argentina can get this done before a possible penalty shootout.

The Canadian game plan will likely be to try and get the game to a shootout, and hopefully, for our sake, that’s not the case. They have only scored two goals in this entire tournament and will be going up against the best defense. Argentina has only given up one goal in the tournament, and it was in the 91st minute of their quarter-final victory. Their defense has been rock solid, and I think that will continue on Tuesday. Argentina has had a pretty easy route to the final, and I think they will get over the last hurdle fairly easily. I think Argentina win 2-0, the same scoreline they won by to start the tournament.
