The Philadelphia Phillies own the best record led in the National League and play host to the team with the National League’s second-best record when they play the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.

Zack Wheeler has been dominant in his pitching starts at home and gets the start for the Phillies on Tuesday, owning a 2.74 ERA with 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings while allowing 0.8 home runs per nine innings.
At home, Wheeler’s ERA lowers to 1.76 with only 0.4 home runs per nine innings allowed with opponents owning just a .175 batting average.
Backing up Wheeler is a Phillies bullpen that since May 1 has the best ERA in baseball at 2.45 while the Dodgers have a 3.14 ERA in their bullpen in this span, good for fifth in the league.
Getting the start on the mound for Los Angeles is Bobby Miller, who seems to be getting back on track after a two-start stretch where he allowed eight runs in 8 1/3 innings while trying to work back into the rotation.
Miller has a 6.12 ERA this season despite getting nine strikeouts per nine innings but is coming off of allowing two runs in five innings in his last start against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In 2023, Miller had a 3.76 ERA and 3.51 fielding independent and though the Phillies lineup he faces for the season leads the league with 5.3 runs per game at home, they are just getting back two of their top three home run hitters from the injured list, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber.
With Wheeler’s dominance at home coupled with the Phillies lineup likely having Harper and Schwarber being rusty off the injured list, Tuesday’s series opener will be a pitcher’s duel.
