TORM has been installing and is presently testing air lubrication on four vessels. 🚢 Air lubrication is a system which blows microscopic air bubbles at the bottom of the vessel, creating a layer of air between the vessel and the water. This layer of air is intended to reduce the vessel friction in water. 🌊 We aim to pursue innovation and discover new ways to reduce our carbon footprint. The testing process of new technologies can unveil many challenges. ⚙️ Challenges with air lubrication relate to the fact that the technology’s efficiency depends highly on factors including the draft, speed of the vessel, the flow to the nozzles, and whether or not the vessel is even keel. 🚢 TORM Strong came by Denmark for a visit! ⚓ TORM Strong, one of our seven S-class vessels, was in dry dock for the commencement of the first special survey and departed on 14 July 2024 from the shipyard. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we upgraded the navigational equipment during the dry dock stay. The hull was fully hydro-blasted and coated with energy-saving silicon-based paint. 🌍 🌊 We installed and commissioned energy-optimizing projects during the drydocking, including a Mewis duct for the propeller and Connected Machinery, which is the onboard aspect of our IT system for fuel efficiency. 🌟Thank You to Our Crew🌟 We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Captain Mads, Chief Engineer Rasmus, and the entire team on board for their exceptional work and dedication in ensuring the safe completion of the dry dock. Fleet update! 💪🚢 TORM has announced an agreement to acquire eight second-hand MR vessels, bringing our total fleet to 96 vessels on a fully delivered basis. During 2023, we successfully completed a record high number of vessel transactions, adding more than 20 vessels to our fleet. This latest acquisition aligns with TORM's commitment to always deliver and solidifies our position as a leader in the product tanker industry. "We are pleased to once more announce a partially share-based transaction to acquire vessels. Since 2021, TORM has utilized partially share-based transactions to expand the fleet, even before the product tankers market took off. This model highlights the strong trust the sellers have in our One TORM platform and their firm belief in market fundamentals," stated CEO Jacob Meldgaard. The vessels are expected to be delivered during Q3 2024 and Q4 2024 and have all been built at the Tier 1-Korean yard Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in 2014-2015. #OneTORM #sustainability #vessels

All systems onboard a vessel are designed for maximum loads and temperatures. ⚙️ TORM pursues innovative solutions to improve our systems and excel in operations. We know that a vessel’s main engine develops excess heat irrespective of whether we are sailing in extreme conditions, at half load, or in colder temperatures. Cooling pumps remove this heat with cooling water. ❄️ When the conditions are not extreme, the cooling need is less, and the power used for the cooling water system can be reduced. Variable Frequency Drives or VFDs control a cooling water system's capacity according to the situation and thus run the systems more efficiently, by maintaining the right temperature and ensuring that the cooling pump does not over-cool and use unnecessary energy. 🔧 This may sound like a minor innovation, but VFDs on cooling water systems save an average of 0.35 tons of fuel per day per vessel, making VFDs a great improvement to save on costs as well as emissions. 🌟 VFDs can provide TORM with savings of 400 metric tons of CO2 per vessel per year. 🌍 #OneTORM #Sustainability #Shipping

Bon Voyage 🌊  TORM Strength sets sail after a successful stay in the drydock.    TORM Strength, the first of our seven S-class vessels, has completed its first special survey and departed the drydock. Energy-saving silicon-based paint was applied, new navigational equipment was installed, the main deck coating was upgraded, and the MEWIS duct was added.   This achievement reflects TORM's ongoing commitment to sustainability and maintaining our fleet.
