At Dynelectro, we are fortunate to have access to excellent consortium partners in our EUDP - Det Energiteknologiske Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram co-funded DynEfuel project (https://lnkd.in/dmJrq3rV). Reversible power-to-X technology for the dynamic production of eFuels - DynEfuel The purpose of the project is to conduct a field demonstration of a 0.15 MW dynamic electrolyser unit. The demonstration will be used for further scaling Dynelectro’s dynamic electrolyser technology for production of syngas optimized for methanol production. Project description The ambition of the DynEfuel project is to construct, and field test a 0.15 MW pilot scale Power-to-X plant, which uses fluctuating power from a wind turbine to produce syngas optimised for methanol production. Specifically, the project will construct a power converter system based on the patent design and topology developed and optimized for AC:DC operation. Construct a 0.15 MW submodule using commercially available stacks. Construction of a container-sized dynamic electrolysis unit. Design and test syngas production optimised for methanol production. Identify offshore operation requirements and implement into the design and operation strategies for the dynamic electrolyser unit. Cold commissioning of the system at Dynelectro’s test site. The DynEfuel project will allow the consortium to obtain field data from an operational site which will be used to optimise the engineering and design for the subsequent development in the technology. The market requires MW to GW sized electrolysis systems for eFuel synthesis. The project integrates the results obtained in the DynAmmonia project and is a key part of improving the performance of MW-sized dynamic electrolysis units to the market. The project activities will be used to develop the Dynamic Electrolyser Unit (DEU) technology to prepare for a subsequent 1 MW demonstration and to safely integrate the next part of the value chain, fuel synthesis, into the operation. Mads Nielsen, Head of Engineering, took up the challenge at the Power-to-X-Factor contest hosted by Energy Cluster Denmark, presenting our breakthrough AC:DC technology in a 3 minute pitch. The audience loved it, and with a ⚡thunder⚡ of applause, they voted in favor of Dynelectro as the most promising #P2X technology. Thank you to Mads for taking up the challenge and pitching with a six-pence and a cool soundtrack. And thank you to the audience, and not least, Energy Cluster Denmark for the nomination.

Last Friday the Steering Committee of the #DynEfuel project met at DynElectros´site to discuss the latest developments, project milestones and next steps. It was really inspiring to see and hear the progress and engagement from all project partners. The overall ambition of the project is to field test a 0.15 MW dynamic electrolyzer unit, a critical step towards scaling Dynelectro’s dynamic electrolyzer technology for optimized syngas production. During the past period our main activity, has been optimizing the base plate design, a critical component for accommodating multiple stacks while ensuring structural integrity and uniform operational conditions in the stack module, together with the engineering team at DynElectro. We conducted a comprehensive analysis of thermal expansion throughout the entire operational cycle, including heating, full load operation, and cooling phases. This involved transient heat transfer analysis to capture dynamic temperature changes and elastic-plastic stress analysis to assess the structural response under varying thermal conditions. Based on the learnings from the detailed analyses and optimization, Dynelectro updated their base plate design ensuring robust performance, with low thermal stresses, and optimal gas flow distribution in their stack module. We would like to thank the entire DynEfuel consortium (Aalborg University, Ramboll, PowerCon A/S, Dynelectro, Siemens Energy, EUDP - Det Energiteknologiske Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram, and SC members (Eva Ravn Nielsen, Søren Højgaard Jensen, Urs Mohn, Jannik Kappel, Finn Daugaard Madsen, Erik Schaltz, Mads Lyngby Petersen, Allan Holm, Lene Gottrup Barfod) for the engaged collaboration, - and a special thanx to Samantha J. Phillips for great project management and Mads Nielsen for an informative site tour. #Electrolyzer #greenenergy #Multiphysics #optimization #scaleup
