Festival season is in full swing – here's the best of the month
If you’ve just returned from Glastonbury then you might be forgiven for feeling a little tired and jaded, or not wanting to see another tent or cider can for a little while…
Well wake up campers! July is here and the festival season is in full swing. From the disco-jazz euphoria of Love Supreme to the hard-hitting trap beats of Wireless, this is perhaps the busiest month in the festival calendar, so get planning below.
American Express presents BST Hyde Park
As always, there’s something for everyone in the capital’s leading summer concert series American Express presents BST Hyde Park. From operatic classics from tenor titan Andrea Bocelli to royal visits from the queens of country (Shania Twain), disco pop (Kylie) and rock’n’roll (Stevie Knicks), only the best in their field grace the tree-lined main stage of British Summertime.

TK Maxx presents Lytham
What once started out as a small proms-style show over one evening has now grown into one of the biggest concert series in the north of England, bringing in over 120,000 people to the banks of the Ribble Estuary each summer. This year you can catch everyone from Hozier and Shania Twain to a UK festival exclusive orchestral performance from James.

Love Supreme Jazz Festival
As its name suggests, the good vibes reign over this kingdom of jazz, blues, disco and funk in the South East. This year it’s a meeting of the old and new guard as Chaka Khan celebrate fifty years in the game alongside Olivia Dean, who makes her debut festival headline performance.

Superboxx
It’s a blast from the past at Rochester Castle this month as Superboxx makes its debut, promising to be “an exclusive showcase of the era’s finest musical moments, making it a celebration of nostalgia like no other.” B*witched, Eternal and DJ Luck & MC Neat perform at the inaugural edition.

The Recipe
The folks at Days Like This Brunch are cooking up something tasty for their new R&B all dayer The Recipe, debuting in Gunnersbury this July. They’ve persuaded Grammy Award-winning artist Jazmine Sullivan to make her first UK performance in a decade, who’ll be joined by Destin Conrad, SiR and more.

Big Smoke
Curated by London’s own Skepta, the inaugural Big Smoke festival lands in Crystal Palace Park on 6 July, as the Mercury Prize-winning grime legend shares the stage with The Streets, JME, Mahalia, YG Marley and more.

Noisily
Billed as one of the UK’s hidden gems, Noisily is an electronic music festival and feel-good rave in the woods up in Leicestershire about to enjoy its third outing. These kinds of boutique events are always more about the company you’re with than the names on the poster, but names such as Antix, Dub Fire and Bart Skills should set the tone of the party.

Rockstar Energy presents Wireless
Few festivals around the world have the pulling power of Wireless, who consistently manage to attract the biggest names in hip-hop, R&B and grime. This year is no exception, as titans Nicki Minaj, 21 Savage, J Hus and Doja Cat head to north London for one weekend only.

Rockstar Energy presents TRNSMT
Rockers and ravers can unite in Glasgow Green this July for a festival bill that puts Liam Gallagher and Gerry Cinnamon next to the likes of Calvin Harris, Chase & Status and more. If it’s your first time, it’s worth remembering that there’s no camping at TRNSMT festival, so make sure you find somewhere nice to get your head down.

Camp Bestival Dorset
Rob da Bank’s multi award-winning family friendly festival returns to Lulworth Castle this month with a whopping line-up not just musically (though don’t dare miss Sophie Ellis-Bextor on Sunday night), but also across its arts & crafts, comedy, sport and other family fun activities.

Latitude
You really can’t talk about the UK’s summer festival scene without mentioning Latitude, a true institution that returns to Henham Park this July for its 18th edition. Kasabian, London Grammar and Duran Duran top this year’s poster, but as ever it’s also all about the comedy, arts and other surprises that are there to be found.
