A video clip showing a woman who suddenly falls into a huge hole filled with water on the road that opens suddenly is being shared as that of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, where new roads have been laid recently ahead of the Ram Mandir inauguration in January 2024.

The claim reads: “This is the condition of the road Rampath built in Ayodhya after the first rain. Its length is 13 kilometers. The company that built the road is from Gujarat. Its name is Bhuvan Infracom Private Limited.” (sic.)

FACT-CHECK

When we received a WhatsApp request, we took out key frames of the video and checked them on Google Reverse Image Search. The results showed that the video was from YouTube, uploaded by ‘Jornal da Record,’ a Brazilian news report on June 4, 2022. See the video here:

The caption in Portuguese, when translated into English reads: “Camera captures moment when sidewalk gives way to woman who falls into hole in Ceará.” The incident was covered by news outlets such as Bhaz and Go Outside. The report says that the 48-year-old woman was walking on a pavement in Cascavel where the hole was covered up by water.

The same video has been flipped as shown above to believe that it’s the other side of the road and claimed as that of an incident that happened in Ayodhya.

Further search on social media revealed that the Ayodhya Police responded to the claim and refuted that it was related to Ayodhya and warned of legal action against those who indulge in spreading misleading videos.

Hence, the claim is false. An old 2022 from Cascavel, Brazil has been flipped and shared to claim that it was from Ayodhya.
