Brief history:
“Ubuchingo” is word in Bemba; a Zambian local language meaning protection. Ten years ago a few professional women started a small association in Northern Province to speak up on violence against children which had become a huge problem in their area. After many years of interventions, the association received overwhelming response and recognition, they then decided to take on a bigger challenge by registering the association. Ubuchingo-DCI Zambia has since grown to be an affiliate of Defence for Children International an international NGO based in Geneva.
