What to Watch

‘New Girl’ Season 1, Episode 6 “Thanksgiving”

In my family, we have an annual saying: “It’s not Thanksgiving without Justin Long.” Much like turkey, tasty sides, and warm feelings of gratitude shared around a dinner table, the 45-year-old actor serves as a seasonal source of comfort in New Girl‘s Season 1 Thanksgiving episode, aptly named after the holiday. Every November, I pregame the big day by gobbling up 20 minutes of laughs, starring Long as Paul Genzlinger, the nerdy music teacher Jess (Zooey Deschanel) invites over for dinner with Winston (Lamorne Morris), Cece (Hannah Simone), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), and Nick (Jake Johnson). From a frozen turkey and a dead body to catchy violin tunes and a massive Best Buy Black Friday line, New Girl‘s seasonal celebration has it all. So fire up Hulu — that’s right, New Girl left Netflix, and as Jake Johnson once said, “what’s the difference?!” — and indulge in a pre-Thanksgiving treat.

‘Working Girl’

There are several reasons to watch Working Girl while it's still streaming on Hulu, and it's not just because of the outrageous '80s hair Melanie Griffith and Joan Cusack sport for most of the movie. Griffith stars as Tess, the sweet, often underestimated secretary working in business who's been looking for a leg up in a male-dominated business....
