‘Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising’
I caught the first Neighbors movie on cable the other night, and I found myself thinking, “God, I wish I were watching Neighbors 2 right now.” Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising is a rare example of a sequel outshining the original. Seth Rogen, Adam Goldberg, and director Nicholas Stoller—along with co-writers Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien—found a way to build on the original premise of this laugh-out-loud comedy, and make it so much better. Rogen and Rose Byrne have hilarious chemistry as the married couple trying to sell their home, and Zac Efron is even funnier as a more pathetic, more introspective version of the frat bro he played in the first film. But what really makes the movie great is the addition of Chloë Grace Moretz, Kiersey Clemons, and Beanie Feldstein as the sorority sisters who prove girls can party just as irresponsibly as boys.
