‘Jackie Brown’
Quentin Tarantino’s third feature film — after Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction — combines the blaxploitation cool of Pam Grier with the sweaty South Florida vibe of Elmore Leonard for a film that is still unmistakably Tarantino. Jackie Brown has always been the discerning cinephile’s choice for the best Tarantino film, but don’t let that fool you into thinking this is some pretentious exercise. Grier is a powerhouse as a flight attendant looking to pull off a dangerous scam, and Robert Forster richly earned his Oscar nomination as a weary bail bondsman who helps her.
