Amazon Prime Day is less than one month away, with the annual sales event set to go down on July 16 and 17, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait until Prime Day to save. Right now, a new offer on Kindle Unlimited is available as an early Prime Day deal.
Of course, Amazon is known for year-round sales but deals on subscription programs like Kindle Unlimited don’t come around too often. Right now, you can get two months of Amazon’s library-esque book subscription plan for just $4.99 total. Kindle Unlimited is normally priced at $11.99/month, so this is a pretty sweet deal if you ask us, and it comes just in time for all of the summer reading you can do on your waterproof Kindle.
Most currently active deals, including the Audible deal, are only for Amazon Prime subscribers, but this one isn’t. However, you’ll need to be anyway if you want to participate in next month’s sales, and who can resist a free trial? The 30-day trial will take you through Prime Day. A Prime membership costs $14.99/month or $139/year, and in addition to access to exclusive deals, you’ll gain access to free books on Prime Reading, the Prime Video streaming service, and so much more.

Photo: Amazon Kindle Unlimited is a subscription-based service by Amazon that gives readers access to over 4 million e-book titles for one low monthly price. If you read just two KU books a month, the subscription pays for itself.
Not unlike a library, subscribers can borrow up to twenty books at a time. There’s also included access to select audiobooks and popular magazines.
Kindle Unlimited’s catalog changes often, with books coming off of and joining the service all of the time. However, once you borrow a book, it stays in your library until you return it, even if that book is no longer available to borrow on Kindle Unlimited.
That’s why we recommend borrowing books as soon as you see them even if you don’t plan on reading them right away, because you never know when they might disappear from the service.
Kindle Unlimited’s library is made up of over four million titles, per Amazon, and we’ve found that there seems to be a particular emphasis on romance novels and thrillers.

Are Kindles Cheaper on Prime Day or Black Friday?
It’s hard to say definitively whether Kindles will be cheaper on Prime Day this year than they will be on Black Friday! However, last year, the Kindle Paperwhite was $89.99 on Prime Day and $134.99 on Black Friday.
While we don’t know how much Kindles will be marked down — or if they will at all — during Prime Day 2024, last year they were cheaper on Prime Day than Black Friday.
Do Prime Members Get Kindle Unlimited For Free?
Unfortunately, Kindle Unlimited, like Audible, is not one of the free perks of an Amazon Prime membership, so you’ll need to pay for the Kindle Unlimited membership monthly on top of the Prime subscription.
However, Prime Reading is a program that is free to Prime members, though the selection is not as robust as Kindle Unlimited’s.
