It’s official: Amazon Prime Day 2024 is happening on July 16 and 17.

For 48 hours, thousands of products across every department on the e-retailer will go on sale — often for some of the year’s lowest prices, if not the lowest ever — exclusively for Amazon Prime members.

If you’ve been considering upgrading big-ticket items around the house, Prime Day is the perfect time to do it (because you probably won’t see prices like these again until Black Friday rolls around).

So, what else can you expect from Prime Day this year?

You’ve got questions, and we have answers. Keep reading for everything you need to know about Prime Day, including some early deals you can already shop for now.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is an annual shopping event for subscribers of Amazon Prime where top-rated products hit all-time low prices.

In addition to all of those categories mentioned above, you’ll be able to score sought-after beauty products, Amazon-branded items, including Kindles and Echo speakers, and outdoor furniture on sale, in addition to deals on Prime Video Channel add-ons and digital services like Kindle Unlimited and Audible.

Deals available on Prime Day range in length, too. While some products will stay at the same low price for the full 48 hours, others may only run for one day of the two-day event.

Amazon also runs plenty of “lightning deals” over the course of Prime Day. These begin at a specific time and are available until they sell out. Depending on the product, price, and stock, this could be hours or just minutes.

All of that being said, we recommend shopping deals as soon as you see them, because they could be gone in a flash.

Of course, we’ll have all the best Prime Day deals updated for you all day on both days, so keep checking back for more early deals and updates as Prime Day approaches.

When is Prime Day 2024?

Prime Day 2023 will take place on July 16 and 17.

However, Amazon will likely run deals in the weeks leading up to the big days, so we recommend keeping an eye on the items at the top of your list starting now. You never know when a great deal will pop up!

How to Prepare for Prime Day 2024

Most Prime Day deals are available exclusively for Amazon Prime subscribers, so you’ll want to ensure you’re signed up and ready to go before the first deals go live.

Amazon Prime costs $15/month or $139/year and comes with a number of perks, such as exclusive Prime Day deals, free two-day shipping, included access to the Prime Video streaming service, discounts at Whole Foods, Grubhub+ food delivery perks for free, prescription savings, and more.

All new Amazon Prime members get a 30-day free trial, so if you haven’t signed up for Prime yet, you’ll be able to do it now and shop Prime Day deals before you pay a cent for your membership. The trial period will help you decide if it’s worth sticking with for the long run.(Hint, it usually is.)
