White House Down fans got an unexpected reunion following actress Joey King ‘s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (July 10).
King and Channing Tatum reunited on the show’s set after costarring in the action/thriller just over 10 years ago.
King was on the The Tonight Show to promote her new film Despicable Me 4, in which she voices Poppy, and the new Netflix Original A Family Affair, in which she plays Zara, alongside Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman.
In White House Down, Tatum, 44, played King’s, 24, father.
“DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!!,” the actress captioned her post. “And I got to reunite with Channing🥹😭 tonight was amazing thank you @fallontonight.”
The photos were taken in King’s dressing room backstage.
Tatum was not slated to be on the show, and just happened to also be in New York to promote his new film, Fly Me To The Moon, per Daily Mail. Tatum appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and attended the film’s premiere with his fiancée Zoe Kravitz, co-star Scarlett Johansson and her husband, Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost.
Tatum also posted about the run in on his Instagram, reposting King’s photo to his story.
“This young woman was a lil baby when I got the pleasure to work with her,” Tatum wrote. “Now, she is a full grown powerhouse of an actor and woman. Just wow.”
“U always be my lil Joey though! I don’t care how big you get,” Tatum concluded on the post.
In a 2013 interview promoting White House Down, King told ABC News ,”He’s going to make such a great dad…he’s just a great guy.” She also spoke in the interview about the “Chan-shake”, the 52-second long handshake the two made up while on set. The actress also revealed that Tatum gave her advice and support to prevent her from experiencing the “dark side” of child acting.
White House Down was popular at its release, grossing over $205 million in the box office during its run. It is now available to stream on multiple platforms including Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and more.
