Jordan Klepper‘s comedy career has included stints on The Daily Show and as host of his own show, The Opposition with Jordan Klepper, but as it turns out, some people know him best from the Funny or Die sketch he appeared in with Mariah Carey way back in 2016.

While Klepper visited Watch What Happens Live last night (June 27), a fan asked him, “Jordan, what was Mariah Carey like on set when you starred in a Funny or Die Christmas sketch together?”

Klepper recalled, “Yes, I did a Christmas sketch with Mariah Carey and she was awesome. She was a little under the weather so the production was running about ten hours behind.”

“That’s her actually firing on all cylinders,” host Andy Cohen joked.

“They brought her back on set and they were like, we have to do about ten hours of work in an hour,” Klepper continued. “And they just ripped through it and she was frickin’ great. She was improvising and she was funny, she was a pro.”

“You never get that ten hours back,” Cohen said.

“But if you can do it in an hour, why not?” Klepper responded.

“So they had eleven hours banked for the shoot—” Cohen said, prompting Klepper to continue.

“They had to change the creative completely because I don’t think she was willing to move a ton. So they rewrote it in that hour and I gotta tell you, it came out great. We’re still talking about it to this day!” Klepper said.

“But isn’t it like, seven of those hours for glam?” fellow guest Adam Lambert then quipped, because he knows exactly how showbiz works.

You can watch the Funny or Die sketch featuring Carey and Klepper above, which is one of several Christmas-themed sketches Carey starred in for the site.

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
