‘Good Morning America’ Shakeup: Where Is Michael Strahan This Week?

Good Morning America hosts Michael Strahan and Robin Roberts have been mysteriously missing from the broadcast this week, leaving their co-host George Stephanopolous to hold down the fort.

Strahan and Roberts’ absences continued into Thursday’s (June 27) broadcast, when Stephanopolous was instead joined by Rebecca Jarvis and Whit Johnson.

This has been a strange week on Good Morning America without Strahan and Roberts, especially after Stephanopolous also missed Wednesday’s (June 26) broadcast, leaving viewers with three new anchors in a shocking Good Morning America shakeup.

But this doesn’t mean the Good Morning America hosts were fired. Strahan has missed quite a bit of work this year as he continues supporting his daughter, who announced earlier this year that she was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 19.

It should be a matter of time before the Good Morning America hosts are back together again. So, where are Michael Strahan and Robin Roberts? Keep reading for more info.

Where is Michael Strahan today?

Stephanopolous did not give a reason for Strahan’s absence during Thursday’s broadcast, but the former NFL player has been missing from Good Morning America all week.

Strahan has also not given any indication as to why he’s taking time off this week. But it may be connected to his daughter Isabella’s ongoing battle with cancer.

Strahan previously missed three weeks of work last fall due to “personal family matters” around the same time his daughter reportedly received her diagnosis. Strahan and Isabella sat down for an emotional GMA interview in January of this year to announce she had been diagnosed with a rare brain cancer after doctors found a fast-growing tumor about the size of a golf ball in her brain.

Decider reached out to ABC for more information about both Strahan and Roberts’ absences this week but did not hear back in time of publication.

For now, the nature of Strahan’s absence or when he should be expected back remain a mystery.

Is Robin Roberts still on GMA?

As for Roberts, the longtime GMA host could still be enjoying the sun in Portugal. She recently traveled to Portugal with GMA and her wife, Amber Laign, on a reporting trip.

According to her social media, she was there as recently as June 20, so it is possible that she decided to extend her trip for some much needed R&R.

For now, it remains unclear when Roberts and Strahan will be back on the show. But there’s a chance viewers will be able to see them as soon as next week.
