Michael Easton is bidding farewell to General Hospital.

The seasoned soap star took to Instagram on Wednesday to break the news of his departure, in which he thanked fans for their “kindness,” per Soap Opera Digest. He kicked off his video message by teasing that he’s “always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” explaining that “that’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone.”

“But I thought you all deserved better,” he continued. “So I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.”

Gushing that he’s “loved every minute that [he’s] been here,” he extended his gratitude to “the entire cast and crew for allowing [him] to share their stage this past 10 years,” prior to sharing the love with fans.

“Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family,” he added. “I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out of here for the last time, and with apologies to Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”
