Martin Short is back hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live despite his best efforts to catch COVID-19 so he wouldn’t have to return, and now the comedian and actor is taking his “contractually obligated” shots at Donald Trump.

On Tuesday (June 25) evening, Short instead set his sights on Melania Trump, who is reportedly thinking about not living in the White House should her husband be elected president again.

“Apparently, Melania hated her time in Washington, but she still might come to DC for state dinners and official events,” Short told the Live audience. He then shared a photo of the Trumps sitting together at an official event, with Melanie appearing straight-faced. “Yes, that’s when she really comes alive,” Short quipped.

He added, “I actually have a little empathy for Melania. I mean, she entered this marriage, she had a certain expectation, and that expectation was that the average life expectancy for an American male is 76.3 years old.”

For the record, Trump is 78 years old. But if her husband does secure a victory at the polls this November, Melania won’t be the only First Lady to avoid staying at the White House.

“Almost every First Lady has lived in the White House with her husband expect for Nancy Reagan, who spent most of the 80s shacked up with Mr. T,” Short joked.

It’s no surprise that Short took aim at Trump during his second evening guest hosting Live. Jimmy Kimmel regularly takes shots at the presidential candidate and his politics, especially leading up to the debate.

He recently criticized Trump and his kids for the Father’s Day message he recently shared, which read, “Happy Father’s Day to all, including the radical left degenerates that are rapidly bringing the United States of America into third world nation status.”

“What a sick individual,” Kimmel said. “Who’s mad on Father’s Day? I guess you’d be mad if there was a whole day devoted to your two biggest failures, Trippy and Dopey.” He then shared a photo of Trump’s oldest songs, Don Jr. and Eric Trump, calling them “the dolt-sen twins.”

Short is just the first of several celebrities who will be hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live this summer.

Ryan Reynolds, Anthony Anderson, Kathryn Hahn, Hugh Jackman, and many more notable stars will each guest host throughout the summer.
