Kelly Rowland Appears To Admonish Cannes Film Festival Ushers On Red Carpet: “Don’t Talk To Me Like That”

Kelly Rowland appears to have gotten into a dispute on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, where the singer-turned-actress was attending the premiere of Marcello Mia Tuesday night (May 21).

A video from the red carpet shows Rowland being rushed up the stairs by a team of red carpet ushers, even as she posed for photographers.

One usher beckons twice for Rowland to begin walking up the stairs where three other ushers suddenly appear, surrounding her. But the video shows her mood quickly shift as she speaks to one of them.

Expert lip reader Jacqui Press weighed in on the dispute while speaking to The Daily Mail. Press said the security guard appeared to step on Rowland’s dress as she walked up the stairs, after which Rowland turned to her and calmly said, “It’s okay.”

But the security guard then said something else, to which Rowland allegedly replied, “Don’t talk to me like that,” which Press speculates she then repeated several times as she reached the top of the stairs.

An inside source claimed to The Daily Mail that Rowland “had had it” with the “aggressive” ushers by the time she got to that point.

“She scolded Kelly and told her to move when she was trying to wave to fans and help the paparazzi get their shot,” the source told The Daily Mail.

They added, “She doesn’t care if she comes across like a diva if she knows that she is advocating for herself. She isn’t fake and wanted to set a clear boundary.”

This comes not long after the Mea Culpa star reportedly walked out of a February taping of Today With Hoda & Jenna and left Hoda Kotb hanging just minutes before the broadcast.

Some reports at the time claimed Rowland was not impressed by the Today Show dressing rooms, but differing reports noted that she was incensed by Today Show host Savannah Guthrie‘s “aggressive questioning” about Beyoncé.

Kotb addressed the rumors during the next broadcast of Today With Hoda & Jenna, where she welcomed the singer back on to the show.

“I have great love and admiration for Kelly Rowland, I adore her, I want her to come back on our show and I want her to host again,” she said. “She can share my dressing room. We’ll be in it together.”
