Rainn Wilson is open to making a cameo in the upcoming Peacock series that’s inspired by The Office.

The actor, who famously played Dwight Schrute in the U.S. version of the hit sitcom, made his View debut on this morning’s episode, where he gushed over the exciting announcement.

“The announcement came out yesterday and I learned about the show. I literally know nothing about it,” he said. “But I love the idea that they’re trying to do an Office spinoff not in Dunder Mifflin, not with the same characters but a documentary crew following a different workplace. That’s a great concept.”

The untitled project, which is not considering itself a spinoff or reboot of The Office, will follow “the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch” as they search for a new subject. They ultimately “discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters,” according to the logline.

When Alyssa Farah Griffin asked Wilson if there was any chance Dwight might make a cameo in the new project, he teased, “Sure, if Dwight Schrute shows up at a newspaper in the Midwest then I’m there.”

While it’s been more than 10 years since The Office ended, Wilson hasn’t been able to escape his iconic role. The actor explained that he recently experienced a “callback” to the hilarious prank Steve Carell‘s Michael Scott pulled on Dwight in the pilot episode when he put his stapler in jello.

“I ordered room service in Italy. It was late at night in the middle of the night. The cart shows up, I’m hungry, my wife is sick, I’m tired,” he said. “And there’s no silverware. It’s encased in jello.”

Wilson called the gag “hysterical,” adding, “The show is huge around the world. It’s a paper company in Scranton and it’s huge in Italy. They don’t even speak English!”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
