The Green Veil debuts on the brand new streaming service The Network on Tuesday (April 30), and Decider has your first look at executive producers Aram Rappaport and John Leguizamo‘s thrilling new show.

Created, directed and written by Rappaport, the eight-episode series follows Leguizamo’s Gordon Rogers, a “government agent in the 1950s tasked with an unraveling secret mission that threatens to expose deeper secrets,” per the show’s synopsis. Gordon, who immigrated to the U.S. as a child, has rejected his past in pursuit of the American Dream, an ideal that has warped his reality.

In this exclusive clip, viewers meet Gordon, his wife Mabel (Hani Furstenberg), and their adopted daughter Abigail (Isabelle Poloner), as they sit down for breakfast together.

“Well, I’ll be,” Mabel sighs as she takes a look at the headline in the morning paper, which reads, “BREAKING: SOUTHBURY FARMERS ABDUCTED BY ALIENS.”

The scene then cuts to Abigail saying, “Let me tell you something about aliens. It’s just a bunch of hysteria to keep the housewives busy.”

Mabel chimes back in to bring the viewer back to the kitchen table, asking Gordon, “Is this the headline Larry was talking about?” However, Gordon shuts her down, emphasizing that it’s “classified.”

Abigail tells Gordon that she doesn’t “believe in aliens,” which only frustrates him, prompting Mabel to step in.

“Please don’t start,” Mabel pleads. “We’re having a nice meal.”

However, Gordon insists that they’re “a family, not some halfway home,” telling Abigail, “So I’d appreciate it if you show me the same kindness that I’ve shown you, because you’re my daughter, and I’m your…?”

After no response, Gordon continues, “C,mon, I’m your…? I’m your…?”

Abigail retorts, “I don’t feel comfortable yet. And that should be OK with you, right? These things take time? Trust and all, right?”

Visibly bothered, Gordon claims that he’ll “patiently wait” for Abigail, adding that it’s “all on [her] time.”

“Until then, I’ll just continue to house you, feed you, provide for you, because that’s what a provider does. He provides,” he says, as he folds up his newspaper, rises from his chair, and exits the room. “Provides, provides, provides. P-r-o-v-i-d-e-s.”

Mabel urges Abigail, “You can call him dad once in a while. He’s a sensitive fellow… Don’t repeat that, though.”

The first two episodes of The Green Veil hit The Network on Tuesday, April 30. Watch the exclusive clip above.
