Wheel of Fortune had a trick up their sleeve for April Fools’ Day on Monday night (April 1). Those who tuned into last night’s installment may have been surprised to see a face other than Pat Sajak‘s alongside Vanna White at the start of the episode.

“Ladies and gentlemen, here are the stars of our show: Jared Leto and Vanna White!” the announcer exclaimed.

The Suicide Squad star, dressed in a suit and tie, then escorted White onto the stage. After both waved to the audience and thanked them for the applause, Leto wished White a “great show,” and took his place behind the wheel.

“Alright everybody, grab those devices, it’s time to give away some money,” he instructed contestants Kylee, Chris, and Alicia. “A thousand dollars in our first toss-up, the category is ‘On The Map.'”

Viewers were thrown for a loop when Sajak suddenly returned to his usual post to man the rest of the game. Some took to social media to express their surprise and to ensure that their eyes were not deceiving them.

“Did anybody else see @JaredLeto walk out with @TheVannaWhite but then Pat Sajak just appeared to do the first puzzle?” one asked on X. “[Am] I losing it?”

Another replied and echoed their confusion, explaining that “the only reason [they’re] on X is to check this very thing.”

“Maybe I’m not going nuts!” they added.

One fan commended the show for their “nice April Fools'” prank, while others were initially left “so confused.”

While viewers weren’t clued into the prank during the show, Wheel of Fortune‘s Instagram clarified that it was indeed an April Fool’s Day joke while sharing a video of the moment on Instagram.

“Did you notice anything different in tonight’s show?!” the caption read. “#AprilFools @JaredLeto”

Leto previously teamed up with the beloved game show when he and his brother Shannon announced their band Thirty Seconds to Mars’ Seasons World Tour last November with the help of Wheel of Fortune, per Entertainment Weekly.

He shared the show’s post to his Instagram story, captioning it, “How’d I do? 🤣”

Wheel of Fortune airs on weeknights at 7:30/6:30c. Check out their website for local listings.
