Robert De Niro railed against Donald Trump during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, earning howling applause from the audience as his tirade was bleeped out for television.

Host Jimmy Kimmel told De Niro that they have both had the honor of being “immortalized on social media by our former President Donald Trump.” Kimmel then proceeded to share social media posts the former president made, including one in which Trump claimed De Niro’s “acting talents have greatly diminished.”

In that same post, Trump wrote that De Niro “must even use a teleprompter for his foul and disgusting language.”

“Is that true?” Kimmel asked De Niro. “Do you have to use a teleprompter when speaking about President Trump, or are you able to just kinda riff on your thoughts on him?”

De Niro, who has become known for openly criticizing the former president, fired back with a smile, “He’s so fucking stupid.”

“I mean, look at the lame, inane things that he says. He’s so stupid he can’t even say anything clever. He’s a fucking moron,” De Niro continued as the audience roared with applause.

But the Oscar-winning actor took a moment to warn the audience and viewers ahead of the upcoming election. “He’s a scary one,” he said on a more sober note, “and in all seriousness, and we know it here, people have to get out and vote and vote and vote and vote.”

De Niro also compared Trump to a televangelist, calling him “a malignant narcissist” and a “sociopath.”

“It’s so frightening and scary. He’s dangerous, we gotta get rid of him,” De Niro said.

The Killers of the Flower Moon actor previously bashed Trump at an event in 2023, when he openly called Apple out for allegedly editing a speech he wrote to omit his statements against Trump. He then took his own cell phone out to read the original speech, in which he called out the former POTUS for his “lies.”

However, Killers director Martin Scorsese later denied that there was any “censorship” in a joint statement with the team behind the Oscar-nominated movie, chalking it up to an “unfortunate miscommunication.”

De Niro later maintained that his speech was still relevant to the movie, saying, “I told Marty, ‘Everything in that speech is leading up to what this movie is about. And I don’t want to take away from the movie. It’s not a rant about Trump. It’s appropriate.’”
