Not only did Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos feel the same way we did about Al Pacino‘s Best Picture blunder at Sunday night’s (March 10) Oscars — so did four-time host Jimmy Kimmel.

For those who didn’t tune in live, The Godfather star presented the coveted final award, ultimately failing to read the ten nominees aloud or reveal the winner with the ceremony’s trademark five words, “And the Oscar goes to…” Rather, he opted to open the envelope, telling the audience and viewers at home, “And my eyes see Oppenheimer.”

As the first people to speak with Kimmel backstage once the ceremony wrapped, Ripa and Consuelos took a moment toward the end of their chat with him to rehash what went down, and featured the footage on Live with Kelly and Mark‘s annual After the Oscars show this morning.

Amid laughter, Ripa teased, “How about Al Pacino cutting like 12 minutes? 20, 25 minutes?”

Consuelos chimed in, “We were all back here like, ‘No! No!'”

Ripa added, “We were like, ‘Don’t open that envelope! Don’t you open that envelope, Al!'”

Kimmel quipped, “I guess he’s never watched an awards show before. It seemed like everyone in America knows the rhythm of how it’s supposed to go, down to, ‘And the Oscar goes to…,’ but not Al.”

After Ripa called it “an extraordinary moment,” Kimmel noted how he put some extra time he had to good use just prior to Pacino’s presentation.

“They go, ‘You’ve got a little bit of time,'” Kimmel recalled. “And I go, ‘I’m reading the Trump tweet.’ They were like, ‘No, no! Don’t read that!’ [I was like] ‘Yes I am!'”

The tweet in question came from Donald Trump‘s Truth Social platform, where he slammed Kimmel’s performance, deeming his monologue “that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.”

Kimmel shared the review on air last night, sarcastically thanking Trump and issuing a bold burn in response.

“I’m surprised you’re still up — isn’t it past your jail time?” he joked.
