Just a few months after physical copies of Oppenheimer were flying off the shelves faster than stores could keep them in stock, you can snag a 4K Blu-ray at its lowest price ever on Amazon and Walmart.
The 29% price drop follows a big night at the 2024 Academy Awards where Oppenheimer took home seven Oscars — the night’s biggest prize, Best Picture, among them.
The epic biopic also won Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Director (Christopher Nolan), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Original Score (Ludwig Göransson), Best Cinematography (Hoyte van Hoytema), and Best Film Editing (Jennifer Lame).
Oppenheimer continues to top Amazon’s best seller chart in the Movies and TV category as one of the most in-demand pieces of physical media in recent memory. The 4K Blu-ray initially hit shelves in November, after Nolan and his team reportedly worked on the home release for months to perfect details before it was released.
“And in the case of Oppenheimer, we put a lot of care and attention into the Blu-ray version… and trying to translate the photography and the sound, putting that into the digital realm with a version you can buy and own at home and put on a shelf so no evil streaming service can come steal it from you,” he said.
The director has also come out in support of continued physical media releases as streaming continues to take over, per IGN.
“If you buy a 4K UHD, you buy a Blu-ray, it’s on your shelf, it’s yours,” streaming skeptic Nolan said in the interview. “No company is going to break into your house and take it from you and repossess it.”
So, if you want to own this year’s Best Picture in a format no one can steal from you, now is the best time to buy the 4K Blu-ray of Oppenheimer.
