Will There Be a Season 3 of ‘Quantum Leap’? What We Know

Long after the original series wrapped in 1993, the new installment of Quantum Leap has brought a lot of buzz to NBC‘s weekly line-up. The series’ sophomore season aired its two-hour finale on Tuesday night (Feb. 20), leaving fans curious as to whether or not a third season is in the works.

Taking the place of the original iteration’s physicist Sam Beckett is Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee), another physicist who “makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it,” per the show’s synopsis.

Around the premiere of the reboot in 2022, one of the sci-fi series’ showrunners, Martin Gero, told Decider that they want viewers “to be able to leap to every episode, and have a great adventure, make right where once went wrong.”

The show, which also stars Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Nanrisa Lee, and Mason Alexander Park, brought in “4.9 million viewers across all platforms,” in its debut season, per an NBC press release shared ahead of the Season 2 premiere last month.

So, will there be a Season 3 of Quantum Leap? Here is everything we know.

Is Quantum Leap renewed for Season 3?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Deadline reported on April 5 — over a month following the Season 2 finale — that the series has been canceled. Lee took to Instagram to thank Quantum Leap fans for their support, noting that he’s “so proud of the show [they] made and more proud of the stories [they] got to tell.”

“If and when another group gets a hold of the accelerator and its capabilities, may they find us floating in time, still striving to put right what once went wrong.”

Bassett also expressed her gratitude on Instagram in the wake of the news, per TVLine.
