‘True Detective: Night Country’ is Airing Early This Week — Here’s When To Stream on Max

We’ve got good news for True Detective: Night Country fans eagerly awaiting a new episode — Season 4, Episode 5 will be available to stream on Max tonight, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET, instead of its normal time on Sunday night.

Now, you won’t have to choose between getting your True Detective fix or watching the Big Game.

Season 4, Episode 5 will be the penultimate episode in the new season, subtitled Night Country, with the finale still scheduled to air in its normal Sunday night time slot on February 18 — so, yes, the wait between episodes 5 and 6 will be a little longer than normal.

True Detective: Night Country is the first entry in the True Detective series to not be written by creator Nic Pizzolatto; instead, acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Issa López is at the helm. It follows detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) as they investigate the disappearance of the eight men operating the Tsalal Arctic Research Station as the remote Alaskan town is plunged into polar night, a.k.a. non-stop darkness.

How to Watch True Detective Season 4, Episode 5:

True Detective Season 4, Episode 5 will be available to stream beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, February 9 (that’s today!), exclusively on Max.

While episodes normally hit Max at the same time they air on HBO’s linear cable network, this one will only be on Max until Sunday night, when it airs at its normal time on HBO.

So, you’ll need a Max subscription to watch True Detective early, and luckily, it’s pretty easy to get started.
