Will There Be A ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2 on Disney+?

The first season of the Disney+ adaptation of Rick Riordan‘s hit novels Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been a grand adventure and visual feast, but unfortunately, the fun is coming to an end.

Told over eight episodes, the show follows the titular character as he travels across America to return Zeus’s thunderbolt and stop a war from breaking out among the deities.

Walker Scobell stars as Percy Jackson with Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase.

The three characters are trainees at Camp Half-Blood and embark on the quest together.

Upon the release of the first two episodes on Dec. 19, 2023, Decider’s Joel Keller praised the show as a “straightforward quest story with good writing and well-defined characters.”

Now that the first season has concluded, what does the show’s future hold? Will there be a Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2? Here’s everything we know.

Will There Be A Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2?

We’re hopeful that there will be another season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but it may take some time. Disney+ has yet to renew the show for a second season, but they have demonstrated their investment in Rick Riordan’s epic world and are celebrating the finale with the behind-the-scenes documentary A Hero’s Journey, which began streaming on Jan. 30.

Additionally, the show has been a major success for the streamer with Deadline reporting that the premiere episode brought in 26.2M views in its first three weeks on the streaming platform.

Despite the show’s dedicated fanbase and the rich foundation built by its source material, Disney+ is taking its time with the renewal conversations. In a recent interview with TVLine, co-creator and showrunner Jon Steinberg confirmed that “nothing’s been ordered yet.”

“I think everybody’s really focused on making sure that people have the reaction to the show that we’re hoping they will… There are some people that spend their day thinking about what next season would look like so hopefully, that work will become a little more official sooner than later,” Steinberg shared.
