Drew Barrymore and Dermot Mulroney had a tear-filled reunion on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Bad Girls, Andie MacDowell surprised Barrymore with their co-stars from the 1994 Western film, Mary Stuart Masterson and Mulroney, which immediately sent the talk show host into tears.
“You were so good to me,” a sobbing Barrymore told Mulroney. “I really was like a lost 17-year-old. I know I was having so much fun but I didn’t know how to take care of myself. And you took such good care of me. You were so kind to me and, like, protected me.”
She added, “Dermot was — he really, really took care of me. I mean, I was wild guys. I was really, really wild.”
Mulroney then dried his eyes with a tissue, before apologizing to the audience for getting emotional.
“It is so nice to see a man cry, by the way,” Barrymore said, to which Mulroney joked, “I knew I was gonna and I came anyway. I decided I’m gonna go ahead and cry in public.”
According to the Anyone But You star — who was 30 years old when they filmed the flick — it was “pretty obvious” that a teenage Barrymore needed some guidance at the time.
However, he wasn’t just there to give life advice. In fact, Barrymore remembered the time he bailed her out of a skin-crawling situation.
“You know what I just remembered? Me calling Dermot — not on a phone because I had to run to your house,” she recalled. “I was hysterical because there was a giant tarantula in my room in my house … I never slept again.”
Barrymore, who said they were filming in the “middle of nowhere,” explained that Mulroney came into her house with a “giant broom” and got rid of the spider.
“Whether I was in deep trouble or there was a tarantula in my room, I would always come running to Dermot to save me,” she concluded.
The Drew Barrymore Show airs on weekdays on CBS. You can check the website for local airtimes.
