Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos bring both love and laughs to daytime TV on Live with Kelly and Mark. The co-host couple have shared their incredible chemistry with viewers every weekday morning on ABC since Consuelos replaced soon-to-be Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest back in April.

Viewers may have felt that Consuelos had big shoes to fill, but he has since established a warm and notable presence alongside Ripa during their daily “host chats,” and was even named People‘s “Sexiest Morning Host” in November. Ripa summed up her husband’s innate ability to pick up co-hosting, deeming him a “natural-born leader” while speaking alongside him at the Paley Center back in October.

“It took me between eight to 10 years to feel remotely comfortable doing that job,” she explained, with respect to co-hosting Live. “And it took Mark about eight to 10 days.”

Although Ripa and Consuelos welcome exciting guests each day, their banter — whether it be silly, sexy, or startling — is what keeps viewers at home tuning in every morning, and those lucky enough to watch a live taping in their studio audience eager to be there. That’s why Decider opted to compile Live‘s Top 10 Laugh-Out-Loud moments of 2023.

Live celebrated National Hotdog Day by having Consuelos and the show’s EP Michael Gelman take a cold plunge, which Ripa joked made it “cocktail weenie day.” However, Consuelos wouldn’t leave it at that, deeming his manhood to be “more like a fine chorizo.” Ripa’s innuendos continued, as they discussed the $29, nine-inch-long hotdog reviewed by The New York Times which she called a “no cold-plunge chipolata.”

  2. Kelly Ripa Breaks Bad, Claiming “I Would Have Been Great at Making Crystal Meth” After Learning Illegal Drug Is Made out of Sudafed: “I Know How to Bake Things!”

Having just learned that people have used over-the-counter Sudafed to make crystal meth, Ripa revealed her discovery on air, to which Consuelos replied, “Yeah, haven’t you ever seen Breaking Bad?” While Ripa claimed she “thought that was just a fun TV show,” she quipped about this new untapped skill, ultimately concluding that she “would have been great at baking crystal meth.” “I’m a baker!” she exclaimed. “I’m a cook! I know how to bake things!”

  3. Kelly Ripa Asks Mark Consuelos If He Is Taking Her And The Audience On A “Strip Club Crawl” To Honor His Favorite Places In New York

Ripa and Consuelos concluded their “Live Loves New York” week by offering viewers “a look at Mark’s favorite” Big Apple spots. After Consuelos said there were “a few [that] mean a lot’ to him, Ripa chimed in, “We’re doing a strip club crawl?” The two had a good laugh, as Consuelos eagerly tried to pivot to a new topic for discussion.

  4. Kelly Ripa Admits That She Often Fakes Her Own Death To Avoid Sex With Mark Consuelos: “He Thinks I’m Dead Constantly!”

This particular “host chat” hopped into quite scandalous (and hilarious) territory, when Consuelos shared that female frogs often fake their own deaths in order to “to avoid unwanted male attraction.” While Ripa claimed that they “learned that from us,” Consuelos joked that he keeps “a little mirror” next to his bedside, which he puts over Ripa’s face to determine if she’s breathing. However, Ripa fired back, saying that’s why she “learned to hold [her] breath for seven to 18 minutes.” The conversation took it up another notch as Ripa revealed that she’s “afraid to stretch out in bed,” as Consuelos quickly deemed that to mean “second base.”

  5. Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Can’t Figure Out How John Stamos Aged Without Getting “Work” Done: “I Actually Think He’s Just Drinking Water!”

While promoting his memoir If You Would Have Told Me, Stamos stopped by Live, where Ripa and Consuelos couldn’t get over how great the Full House star looks for his age. Consuelos claimed that “everyone ages,” and Ripa even went so far as to argue that he “looks the same” as he did when he starred as Blackie on General Hospital. She ultimately concluded that he couldn’t have gotten work done because she’s an “expert” at figuring out if someone has or not.

“I think that somehow, like when they were handing out the chips in God’s poker game, they were like, ‘We’re going all in on this one! We’re going to put all of our chips, all the chips on him, and see what happens!'” she exclaimed.

  6. Kelly Ripa Admits To Vanna White That She Thought ‘Wheel Of Fortune’s Pat Sajak Was Her Husband: “I Think I Speak For A Lot Of People”

This line had both Live and Wheel of Fortune fans spinning out of control! Longtime letter-turner Vanna White stopped by Live and opened up about her co-host Pat Sajak leaving the show come the end of Season 41. “We’ve been together for so long, when he walks up the stairs, I can tell what kind of a mood he’s in!” she explained, likening their dynamic to Ripa and Consuelos’. Ripa then admitted that “for years,” she was under the impression that White and Sajak were married, and was shocked after the latter arrived at their home for a dinner party, and White wasn’t with him.

“I was like, ‘Oh my god! Pat and Vanna must have gotten divorced!'” she exclaimed.

  7. Mark Consuelos’ Scary (And Hairy) Sandoval Stache Becomes A Bravo Bombshell Of Its Own On This Year’s Halloween Special

Live‘s annual Halloween special covered a plethora of pop culture moments, and of course had to include Scandoval, the tumultuous break-up between Vanderpump Rules stars Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval after the latter’s affair with fellow co-star Rachel Leviss was unearthed. Consuelos embodied Sandoval with an ever-growing mustache that seemingly became a character of its own, and even Madix approved their impersonation, telling them that they “nailed” it.

  8. Kelly Ripa Calls Out The Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner: “You Dropped The ‘L Word’ On More Than One Woman”

Kelly went right in on senior stud Gerry Turner ahead of The Golden Bachelor‘s inaugural season’s fantasy suites, and questioned why he told not one, but two women that he loved them! Say what?! While Turner explained that “there’s a certain Bachelor tradition you gotta keep alive with every season, and stepping in a bucket is one of them,” Ripa continued to question Turner as to if he “just got carried away” or if he actually fell in love “with more than one woman.” Nonetheless, she and Consuelos have since welcomed Turner and his fiancee, Theresa Nist, back on the show ahead of their Golden Wedding, and even performed an impromptu, fake wedding ceremony for them on air.

  9. Kelly Ripa Puts Mark Consuelos In The Doghouse When She Reveals Footage Of Him Riling Up Their Two Pets

A lot of the laughs and love that emanate from Live come from Ripa and Consuelos filling viewers in on their home lives, and Ripa certainly pulled back the curtain on Consuelos as a dog dad, as she showed footage of him riling up their dog Lena. While Consuelos justified it under the guise that she was “playing,” Ripa revealed a clip of their other dog Chewie, who remained calm as she recorded her.

“See how they are around me, versus around you?” she quipped.

  10. Mark Consuelos Has A Silly Slip-Up: “If You Stump Me, It’s Gonna Be Kelly’s Fart”

Consuelos proved that fart jokes are fool-proof — especially when they’re unintentional! While kicking off their daily round of Stump Mark during their Holiday Sweater party, the Live patriarch attempted to iterate the rules to the game in which he aims to correctly guess the true statement given by a fan who calls in. Accidentally, Consuelos uttered, “If you stump me, it’s gonna be Kelly’s fart — fault!” While he and the Live audience couldn’t contain their laughter, Ripa retorted, “For the record, it’s never Kelly’s fart!”
