Drew Barrymore Credits Taylor Swift With Giving Her The Confidence To Date Freely On ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’

Drew Barrymore is finally getting back in the dating game — and she has Taylor Swift to thank for that.

On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress opened up to Gwyneth Paltrow about the mystery man she’s been casually seeing for the last few years. The conversation was prompted by the Goop founder’s suggestion that Barrymore sign up for a dating app like Bumble.

“Funny enough, the one person who I’ve been sort of seeing in and around for the last three and a half years, I oddly met on Raya,” Barrymore confessed.

According to the star, Swift’s highly-publicized relationship with NFL player Travis Kelce gave her the confidence she needed to take things to the next level.

“I invited him to a wedding next weekend,” she said. “And he said, ‘Wow. After three-and-a-half years, you’re going to invite me to a wedding.'”

Barrymore continued, “I was like, something about Taylor Swift going out and just dating like a normal person and not being a dark horse about it. I was like, ‘I overthink everything. I should just go on a date. What’s wrong with me?'”

Swift made her relationship official with Kelce in September when she showed up at Arrowhead Stadium for a Kansas City Chiefs game. The Grammy Award-winning singer has since attended several other games — and even stepped out hand in hand with the tight end following their surprise Saturday Night Live joint appearance in October.

While Swift is typically hush-hush about her private life, Barrymore, who has been single for nearly seven years, has never shied away from dishing on her romantic relationships. During a December 2022 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the Never Been Kissed star revealed that she had reconnected with someone from her past via a dating app.

“Someone I’ve been hanging out with is happy to send postcards. And no one I’ve dated in years would be willing to do that and it seems like such a small thing,” she said at the time, before later adding, “So far, this is what it has proved to me: that there are people out there that can be nice, he’ll call on the phone, I’ll get a postcard, we’ll make a plan.”
