Comedian Matt Rogers is best known for co-hosting the Las Culturistas podcast with Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang, in which the two discuss all the things pop culture and never hold back. One particularly opinionated segment from the show, recorded in 2021, is coming back to haunt Rogers, though.

During a segment on the pod called “I Don’t Think So, Honey,” Rogers once offered his unfiltered thoughts on Wheel of Fortune, a show that he called “so fucking boring.”

He added that he thought that the show’s contestants were “fools” with “no skill,” and late came for host Pat Sajak, whom Rogers boldly proclaimed “sucks.”

And while plenty of people feel the same way about Wheel, not everyone actually appears on the show they’ve publicly criticized…

But Rogers did indeed appear in an episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune just last week, alongside Paula Abdul and Lil Rel Howery, and he actually crushed the competition.

Rogers earned over $260,000 for Story Pirates Changemakers, a non-profit that works with children to promote literacy, storytelling and self-expression through the arts.

There has, predictably, been some pushback toward Rogers after his comments about the show and Sajak surfaced. Fans have asked Rogers to apologize to Sajak and the show, with one writing, “Well, this rant certainly aged like milk. Matt Rogers lost on Jeopardy! but won over $260K on #WheelofFortune despite it being a ‘stupid’, ‘boring’ game and ‘Pat Sajak sucks’. I hope Matt gave Pat and the WOF crew an apology at some point.”

Another called Rogers fake and phony, tweeting, “I DON’T THINK SO, HONEY. Go back to Jeopardy!”

Rogers has not acknowledged his past comments, but he appears to be grateful to the show for the money they donated to his cause. He wrote on Instagram Dec. 16, “I WON @celebritywheeloffortune! Third time was the game show charm for me! $260K for @storypirates! That is more than I could have ever imagined and it couldn’t go to a better group of people or to better use.”

He continued, “This organization changes kids lives for the better and opens their eyes to their own creativity. Please check them out. And while raising this money was the highlight… a VERY close second was meeting the one and only icon @paulaabdul who I have loved forever and is an absolute joy.”

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on ABC.
