It’s not such a happy holiday season for the Great American Family network — recent ratings show Candace Cameron Bure’s newest film My Christmas Hero underperformed at GAF.

According to ratings from SpoilerTV, My Christmas Hero only drew 371,000 live viewers during its premiere, amounting to .03 percent of its key demographic.

This is a stark decrease from the ratings for Bure’s first film for the network, titled A Christmas … Present, which drew in 462,000 live viewers at its premiere in 2022.

X user @SleepyKittyPaw shared SpoilerTV’s ratings and pointed out that Great American Family still hasn’t “netted 500,000 live viewers for anything on network now in 3rd holiday season.”

They added, “Pretty clear very few interested in bigoted ‘values’ GAF selling.”

They were likely referring to the network’s association with Bure, who was accused of making anti-LGBTQ remarks when she said Great American Family would focus on “traditional marriage” instead of depicting same-sex relationships like Hallmark has done in the past.

Despite Bure’s remarks, Great American Family CEO Bill Abbott outrightly stated in an interview with Variety that the Full House star does not speak “on behalf of Great American Media.”

“In terms of her personal views, it’s like the disclaimer you see at the end of a movie or a series that says, ‘The views reflected here are not necessarily those of the company,'” Abbott said in an October interview with the outlet.

When asked if the network does plan on integrating more LGBTQ content in its future projects, Abbott remained mum and told Variety that GAF was “not seeking to do anything or not do anything” at the moment. “We don’t have an agenda either way. It’s not in the faith-and-family playbook to have agendas that are either pro or anti,” he said.

However, he also praised Bure’s work and noted that her star power likely played a role in the network’s overall growth. Variety reported that the network is up 150 percent in total viewers in 2023 compared to 2022.

Bure joined the network in 2022 as chief content officer after she made the surprising choice of leaving Hallmark for the more conservative company. She starred in 10 holiday films during her time at Hallmark, prompting fans to crown her the Queen of Christmas.

Since the backlash, the actress has been vocal about “cancel culture,” saying earlier this year, “It’s important that we don’t back down.”
