‘Insecure’ Star Yvonne Orji Says She’s Still A Virgin At 39: “There’s A Lot Of Pent-Up Energy In Here”

Yvonne Orji has opened up about still being a virgin at age 39.

Speaking with Chelsea Handler on her Dear Chelsea iHeartPodcast back in September, the Insecure star confirmed that she is still a virgin, to which Handler replied, “Oh my god, I love this!”

“This is the most original guest we’ve ever had on!” the comedian exclaimed. “And what are you, 39?”

“I am!” Orji affirmed.

Handler, still in shock, said, “Oh my god, that dam is gonna break one day, baby!”

Orji chimed in, quipping, “Let me tell you right now…pray for him, whoever he is. Y’all need to pray for him because there’s a lot of pent-up energy up in here.”

Handler noted that Orji will “hit [her] sexual peak” when she starts having sex, claiming that she’ll need “a couple of men.”

Orji continued the jokes, saying that, “Yvonne went from being a virgin to polyamory.”

The Bamboozled by Jesus author, who is remaining a virgin until marriage out of religious beliefs, told People in 2017 that in terms of sharing this side of herself with the public, she’s “open, because why not?”

“I’m grounded in who I am,” she added, explaining that “people ask about it because they’re curious, or they may not understand.”

“How will they ever understand if I don’t talk about it?” she continued. “I can inform your curiosity, as opposed to everyone being in the dark and just sort of creating their own narrative about it.”

According to The Jasmine Brand, the actress revealed on Zuri Hall’s podcast Hot Happy Mess in 2021 that the hit HBO comedy’s costume designer helped her prepare for sex scenes.

“The costume designer watched the first tape and pulled me to the bathroom and said, ‘You got to let the man lead,’ ‘you’re off beat,’” she recalled. “She gets behind me and she’s doing the emotions… she’s very hands on. Then she’s like, go call him [Langston Kerman] in here. So we practiced in the bathroom. We definitely made sure it looked believable.”

Orji, who is approaching her 40th birthday on Dec. 2, dated NFL star Emmanuel Acho from 2018 to 2019, per Page Six, but has not been publicly linked to any other partners since.
